Urwa is APHRA registered psychologist who has completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) and a Master of Clinical and counselling Psychology. Urwa has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and is committed to helping individuals navigate their mental well-being journey. She has worked with individuals presenting with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, chronic pain, intellectual disability, autism, substance use and adjustment issues. Urwa also has experience working in occupational rehabilitation.
Urwa strongly believes that rapport is necessary in achieving results in therapy and strikes to deliver therapeutic interventions in a caring, non-judgemental and empathic way to help clients feel safe and supported. She utilises evidence-based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, interpersonal therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
Urwa is committed to a person-centred approach and tailors her therapy techniques to best suit the client’s needs, including culture, language, beliefs, communication style and life.
